It just seems that there isn't much going on in Droylsden at all.

The council has overpriced the rental of the stalls, effectively killing off the market. I'm sure the council now has plans to sell off the land to house builders or something similar..

Methinks they need a less expensive place to rent, since most of the proceeds seem to be going on the rent, into a private landlord's pocket!

The charity shop has now moved around the corner on Manor Road, near Manor Wines off licence.

The problem being centrally located would be the price of shop rental, its probably a lot cheaper to camp out down Edge Lane, and this would explain why the Red Cross shop is so expensive.

Well things are changing these days, I think that the new shops like Wilkinsons and Quality Save have had a great impact on the traditional marketplace.

I remember the weekly trek down Market Street with my mother every Saturday, where she would buy lots of fresh fruit and veg from the market stalls. I would then have to lug it all back home for her..

The good old days eh !
